Afghans

Below are photos of afghans I have done by hand knitting and by using my Bond knitting machine.

Reversible Cables

This afghan was done with Bernat Chunky yarn on the Bond. It features identical cables on both sides of the afghan. While it was a really neat afghan, the time spent on hand manipulation was tremendous (especially for a beginner). As this was intended as a gift and I was under time constraints, I ended of frogging (Rip-n-Knit) and starting over with the next afghan.

Cables with Garter Stitch Border:

This afghan worked up very quickly on the Bond, since I was only concerned with the stitches on one side. The places where the reversed cables were (from above afghan) have been replaced with a double row of stitches reformed to create "stripes". You can see how these added interest to the reverse side of the afghan as well. The garter stitch edge prevented any curl on the edges of the afghan. As this was completed on the Bond knitting machine, all stitches and cables were formed by hand. This afghan turned out really well. The recipient was pleased too!

Homespun Afghan:

Hand knit using Homespun yarn and size 15 needles. It was knit in stockinette stitch with a seed stitch border. This was a full upper body workout with those needles! Project worked up quickly, despite using 4 yarn strands at once. There were strings of yarn everywhere! The finished afghan was very soft and squishy -the kind you just want to scrunch your fingers into over and over again. Photo doesn't do it justice. All of the Homespun yarns are beautiful when completed. I just wish they didn't shred so much as you used them!
